Code of Conduct

Need to report a concern? Click here to contact us — all reports are handled discreetly.

CircleUp exists to help people connect, make friends, and build real community in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We want everyone to feel safe, included, and able to be themselves — without needing to walk on eggshells. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards we expect from all members and guests.

By using the CircleUp platform — including our website, app, or by attending any CircleUp event — you agree to follow this Code of Conduct. Breaches may result in action, including suspension or termination of membership, without refund.

Respect & Inclusivity

CircleUp is an inclusive space. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind — including based on race, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or background.

Everyone has the right to feel respected, safe, and welcome.

Speech, Humour & Expression

We believe in natural, honest conversation — and we’re not here to police personalities or ban humour. That said, freedom of expression doesn’t mean freedom from impact. If something you say — even jokingly — makes others feel targeted, unsafe, or excluded, it may be addressed under this policy.

We trust our members to read the room, use common sense, and look out for each other.

Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours may result in immediate action:

  • Sending unsolicited or inappropriate messages to other members

  • Making unwanted physical contact or advances

  • Using language, jokes, or comments that are sexual, aggressive, or exclusionary

  • Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or persistent attention

  • Disruptive conduct at events, including excessive intoxication or aggression

  • Disrespecting venue staff, organisers, or volunteers

  • Repeated no-shows or failure to honour event commitments

  • Any behaviour — online or offline — that makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe

CircleUp is not a dating service. Personal conduct that crosses boundaries will be taken seriously.

Responsibility for Damages

Members are personally responsible for any damage they cause to venues, property, or equipment during CircleUp events. If damage occurs, the member may be required to reimburse the venue or affected party directly. CircleUp accepts no liability for damage caused by individual members.

Our Right to Act

CircleUp reserves the right to refuse, pause, or cancel any membership or event access at any time, at our sole discretion. We are not required to issue a warning or follow a formal process. This allows us to act quickly to protect the wellbeing of the wider community.

If your membership is suspended or terminated due to a breach of this Code of Conduct, no refunds will be issued, including for any remaining portion of your term.

Raising Concerns

If you experience or witness something that feels off, speak to an event organiser or contact us directly via our Contact Us page. We take all concerns seriously and handle reports discreetly.

Final Word

CircleUp is here to help people find their people. That only works when everyone helps protect the environment we’re building together. Thanks for playing your part — and for helping to make CircleUp the kind of community we all want to be part of.
